BENEFITING: THE SERGEANT THOMAS JOSEPH SULLIVAN CENTER
EVENT: Marine Corps Marathon 2013
EVENT DATE: Oct 27, 2013
This is the one and only time in my life that I will be running a Marathon.
I decided to choose the Marine Corps Marathon due to my time spent in the Marine Corps, This marathon will actually occur near the 10 year anniversary of me getting out of Marines. With the Marine Corps changing my life so significantly, I thought it would only be fitting to set a goal of raising $1000.00 for a Marine charity.
The Sgt. Sullivan center is one of the few charities that is family based, and located in Washington D.C. I am proud to support them on their goal of shedding light on some of the issues that are currently affecting our returning veterans from Iraq and Afghanistan. They challenged me to raise at least $400.00, I have given them a counter offer of $1000.00. Please help me in this goal.
I also have made the commitment to raise $1000.00 for the IAFF charitable foundation due to me being a firefighter. The IAFF charitable foundation is the largest running team currently in the Marine Corps Marathon, If you would like to donate to that fundraiser, please see my link.
To train for this event, I have been running to work (4-5miles from my house) on a frequent basis, I also have done some training runs locally and across the west coast. I will be participating in a few running events to prepare myself.
