San Jose Obrero Mission (SJOM) opened its doors 30 years ago as a response to the growing need to address homelessness in Chicago. Founder Fr. David Staszak began our program as an emergency shelter in the heart of the Pilsen community with the belief that all individuals should have a suitable place to live and the opportunity to make a better life for themselves.
Today, we are continuing Fr. David Staszak’s work as an interim housing program providing services to single men, women, and families at our Men In Crisis (MIC) and Families In Crisis (FIC) shelters. We provide our residents with 24 hour living accommodations as well as individualized programming such as case management, career coaching, and life skills training. Help us to continue to make a difference in our community by donating today and showing your commitment to not only end hunger, but also homelessness.
