BENEFITING: American Red Cross
EVENT DATE: Nov 04, 2012
The NYC Marathon, which I have been training for since July, is slated to proceed this Sunday as planned. While I don't know whether it is still logistically possible for me to attend, my family has been extremely supportive in getting me to the start line in any way possible. But more so, I am morally conflicted on whether its the right thing to have a marathon while the city is still recovering.
What I do know is that whether I can get there or not to "run a race", the American Red Cross is there now helping people in their time of need. As an ARC volunteer during my 5 years in DC, I know and saw exactly where my dollars to this organization were going - to the people.
So today, as I battle with my heart and my head, I know the one thing I can physically do right now to help and to give back to the city I love, the city where my siblings call home, the city that will let me sing for 26.2 miles through 5 boroughs, is to ask for your help. If you can give $1, $5, $26, anything, it would be most appreciated.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
All the best,
