Watch Sandy's Ice Bucket Challenge!

BENEFITING: FRIENDS OF GENESEE COUNTY ANIMAL SHELTER INC
In light of the recent publicity surrounding the hazards of the water running through the pipes of homes in Flint, Mich., as well as the recent passing of our dear mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and owner of so many other wonderful titles, who was also an animal lover and philanthropist til the end, we wanted to raise money to aid in the care for the pets of Flint. Our feisty Sandy Payton (Briggs) passed in the morning on Friday, February 26, 2016, in McLaren Hospital. She would have been 80 years young this August. She was diagnosed with lung cancer some eight years ago and fought through to create a few more memories. She lived her whole life in the greater Flint area, retired from General Motors, and was a generous donor to many charities, including undergoing the harsh brutality that is the "Ice Bucket Challenge." Did we mention she was 78 yrs. old and was on a constant oxygen feed when she voluntarily had ice water poured over her for a charitable cause? Yep, that's our Sandy. Sandy loved animals. Her most recent addition to our family is her beloved Shih tzu, Chloe. Chloe has a rare blood disease in which my grandmother invested much time and treasure to make sure Chloe was well and enjoyed her life. They shared many happy moments together and it was obvious that Chloe provided so much more for Sandy than Sandy for Chloe. In honor of our Sandy, her love for animals and philanthropy, and the tragedy that is literally eroding her hometown, we ask that you make a gift to purchase clean water and other supplies listed on the "Wish List" for the Friends of Genessee County Animal Shelter (http://www.fgcas.info/donated-items-wanted.html) for the pets of Flint. EVERY gift helps and can add up to do something truly amazing! Please help us in reaching our goal and honoring Sandy with a gift today. THANK YOU!
