When I moved back to DC 3 years ago, professionally I made the transition out of the classroom and into the private sector. However, the impact of my time in the classroom teaching second grade in New Orleans with Teach for America stayed with me. These days, I have the opportunity to continue working with young children at economic and social disadvantages through Junior League of Washington. Through Junior League I've had the opportunity to get to know young children and families connected to Bright Beginnings, a free, full-day child development center here in Washington. Bright Beginnings works to ensure that young children (prenatal- age 8) and their families are provided with the tools and resources necessary to find success educationally and emotionally. It's an incredible organization, one that I'm proud to be in some small way connected to- and this year I'm supporting the Bright Beginnings 5K. While I'm not running (I know, you're SHOCKED... I'll be working the event!), I'm looking for help from you, my fine friends, to raise money and sign up runners. Please, please consider donating (or coming out to run!!) - any small amount helps to make a big difference in the lives of the DC children and families that Bright Beginnings supports. Thanks guys!
