Chris Herbert wrote -We are two musicians who also call Brooklyn home. We believe that our borough's library system is one of Brooklyn's hidden gems. The Brooklyn Public Library provides a welcoming “third space” for children and teenagers—a safe haven other than home or school where they can be themselves and get the one-on-one help and resources they need to enjoy reading, excel in school, graduate, apply for college or learn skills that will help them get a job. The library also has a great music collection, and it's a lot more accessible than the New York Public Library's collection at Lincoln Center. The BPL has a goal of raising $500,000 by June 30 so it can keep the doors to discovery open for all Brooklyn residents. We want to do our part and raise $1000. We will run in the Brooklyn Half Marathon on May 17 and we hope you'll empower our run by donating generously to the Brooklyn Public Library.
