BENEFITING: National Blood Clot Alliance
EVENT DATE: Jun 11, 2016
In the past 3 years, I've lost two people to pulmonary embolisms caused by blood clots.
My stepmom Connie Ashey was the sweetest woman I knew--dedicated to her children, the community, and education. She always had a smile on her face and a warm hug at the ready. When she suddenly passed in July 2015, a week after her 49th birthday, she left behind my father and two brothers Chris (15) and Colby (9).
My friend and colleague Michael Scott was the coolest person in the ABC newsroom. A fierce athlete, he passed at the age of 43 from an undetected blood clot. His family has been such an inspiration to me---raising awareness around deadly blood clots that too often go undiagnosed by doctors.
Please support me as I walk in their names.
