Stuff About Me:

I am thrilled to be running for CHAMPIONS for CHAM team in 2015 for the TCS New York City Marathon!  This will be my 1st time running the New York City Marathon. I am an avid runner and have run 1 previoius marathon, 3 half marathons, and a couple of 10Ks, but I am very excited that this time it's for charity, my NICU.  I can't wait to meet you all at the finish line in Central Park, November 1.

The Children's Hospital at Montefiore, particularly the NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit), does simply amazing work with premature babies and infants from across the New York metro region. As a nurse, I'm proud to say that I work with so many of the staff who provide care around the clock and care so much for our little ones.

My co-worker, Catherine Castelli, and I are particularly raising money for our NICU.  Your donations with help fund programs and services that make a huge difference to our NICU parents. For example, a baby shower that a NICU mom never had because her baby was born at 26 weeks instead of 40; birthday celebrations for their infant who made it to 100 days of life; and graduation day, the day a 26 weeker leaves the NICU.

Your generous donations will also help moms and their families get through these unimaginably difficult experiences.  These families need basic things that are only made possible through charity.  You will help fund our parent support groups, memory making for those infants who did not make it, and monthy events where families mingle and share their stories.  These meetings are symbiotic for both families, as they gain strength and courage from the other.

As a NICU team we hope to create an atmosphere where celebrations of family become part of the NICU experience and are ongoing throughout the patient's stay.

Below is an article done by the daily news that illustrates a story of a patient and his family and what the NICU goes through daily with families, your donations will help fund infants like the one in the article.

Thank you so much for supporting me and CHAM, especially the NICU!
