Hey Teams:
Thanks for all your efforts in training and fundraising, completed or yet to come. We are honored and so grateful that you have joined the RDS Runners Teams in these races. Of course, some of you, and I won't mention names, ;) need to pick up the pace, or get started all together. Use emails, tweets, Facebook posts... let all your friends know about the event and the importance of supporting Down syndrome research that will lead to improved memory, learning and communication in persons with Down syndrome.

I was in Washington, DC the other day at a Down Syndrome Research Consortium meeting sponsored by the NIH.

Never have I seen such enthusiastic support for research like RDS is funding - Research that will lead to drug therapies that will improve memory and learning in persons with Down syndrome. Also, research that is aimed at understanding the connection between Down syndrome and Alzheimer’s disease, and developing treatments for this as well. Spread the word, that with your friends' help, RDS Runners and Research Down Syndrome are changing the course in understanding and treating the intellectual disabilities in Down syndrome.

I am off to San Francisco on Friday, July 27 to meet with our RDS Runners team competing this Sunday in the Wipro San Francisco marathon. RDS Runners team dinner is Friday night.

I look forward to meeting as many of you as possible at future events if I can make them. More details will follow.

You all are so fantastic to be giving as you do! RDS greatly appreciates your efforts.

All the best. Continued good luck with your training.

I am proud that you: RACE FOR THE EXTRAORDINARY!

Stuff About Me:

I am very excited to be running the Air Force Marathon this year for two reasons. 1- This will be my first full Marathon run and 2- I can imagine running to support a better cause! My youngest cousin, Patrick, has Down Syndrome and is an inspiration to all. Its an honor to run and support him, his family and the Down Syndrome community. Throughout high school and college I volunteered at the schools and Abilites First and had the amazing opportunity to work with children with disabilities. That experience helped shape who I am today and opened my eyes to know that I wanted to be a care provider in any way .
