Hi everyone! My name is Sarah Mulles. Welcome to my team page and thanks so much for visiting!! I am so excited to announce that I am putting together my very own team for the 2017 Annual 1 Million Steps 4 OCD Walk Fundraiser, which will be held at Jaycee Park in Greensboro on June 10th (This Saturday)!! Those planning to join the walk will need to check in at 9:30 AM that morning.
I am 27 years old and have severe Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) myself. I have fought a very long, difficult personal battle with OCD throughout my life. Though I fortunately never battled suicidal tendencies, I can vividly remember times in my life when OCD consumed me to my very core and during many of those times, I also recall losing hope and the will to live! There was a time when I was only about 9 years old, during which my OCD thoughts had convinced me that I was such a horrible disgusting human being, that I deserved to go straight to hell and burn! While OCD was the cause of so many of my childhood struggles that couldn't be explained at the time, I was not officially diagnosed with OCD until I was 22 years old! I have recently begun my journey as a new person, learning to rise above and fight the bully known as OCD!! Although I still have OCD, I am learning more and more every day now, how to better take control of this tormenting disorder, rather than allowing it to take control of my entire life, as it did in the past!! I am, of course, a work in progress and always will be, but I am now learning to become a fully functioning adult living with OCD!!
All thanks to my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, my life means so much to me now!! I am now excited for what the future holds and for what each new day may bring!! I now have an IRON will to live and a new found enthusiasm for life that I have never experienced before!!
Because of my personal struggle with OCD, I decided to put together my own team for this event and set my donation goal at $1,000!! OCD is a highly misunderstood and under-represented disorder! The 1 Million Steps 4 OCD Walk is about raising more awareness in our community, for this rarely talked about disorder and the detrimental and crippling effects it can have, as well as to raise funds for the International OCD Foundation (IOCDF) and to help end the stigma of mental illness!!!
Whether you decide to join the walk, make a donation, or just simply share this link -- you are making a difference and contributing to our cause and we genuinely appreciate you!!!
