Sarah is going to be doing her very first 5K this June. She has joined Girls on the Run through her school and is excited about completing her very first race. If you are unaware Girls on the Run is an after school program for girls ages 8-14. The goal of the program is to give girls confidence through accomplishment while establishing a lifetime appreciation of health and fitness. The mission is achieved by volunteer coaches who meet with the girls a few times a week for about 10-12 weeks, the program creatively integrates running, goal setting and training for a non competitive 5k running event with interactive lessons that encourage positive social and physical development among all who participants.
