Sarah's Food Drive
Organized by: Mark Jordan
Our daughters Sarah and Claire started this food drive 8 years ago. One night during dinner, Sarah, who was 6 at the time, told her mom that she was full, even though she still had lots of food left on her plate. Her mom told her that there were people that lived five minutes away from her that didn’t have food for dinner and that she was so fortunate that she did.
Minutes later, we heard a story on the radio talking about the Thanksgiving food drive for the Daily Bread Food Bank. They were in need of a lot more food and were asking people to donate. After hearing that, Sarah told her mom that she wanted to do something to help.
Sarah's Food Drive was born.
Since then, Sarah, her sister Claire, and her community, have raised over 200,000 pounds of food for the Daily Bread Food Bank. The need is only growing. With the cost of food predicted to rise by 4% over the coming year, there is only going to be more pressure on the less fortunate and those with lower income to have access to healthy, nutritious food.
Sarah and Claire need your help to reach their ambitious goal of raising 80,000 pounds of food this year.
Every dollar donated = 1 pound of food.
Please help them help others.
