Crowdrise like most other fundraising sites does take a portion of the donation so if you want every penny to go to my cause, I'd recommend sending a check to:

Who am I?
Hi! my name is Sarah Steinke and I am majoring in Biological Systems Engineering and Biological Sciences at Virginia Tech. I was recently accepted as a fellow for Community Water Solutions this upcoming summer, and am working to raise money for the trip.

What am I doing?
I am going to Ghana this Summer with a small non-profit called Community Water Solutions that brings clean drinking water to rural villages in Ghana. CWS works with communities to set up for-profit water businesses where women from the village are trained to use products to treat water and make it safe to drink. The water is then sold to members of the village at an affordable price and the money is used to sustain the business. We raise all of the money to build these water treatment centers, and train the women to run them, taking about a month for each center. These centers are then completely run by the community and CWS just visits to check up on them!

To go to Ghana with CWS, I am trying to raise about $2000 to help with costs of building the water treatment centers. Whether you donate $1 or $100, every dollar helps!

If you have any questions or would like some more information please feel free to email me at

Thank you so much for the support.
