BENEFITING: HOWARD HOSPITAL FOUNDATION INC
EVENT DATE: Aug 18, 2013
The Claudia Mayer Cancer Resource Center has teamed up with the Columbia Triathlon Association to present the first Athleta Iron Girl Columbia Half Marathon on April 28, 2013. Taking place in scenic Howard County, the second Iron Girl Half Marthon in the Mid Atlantic, this inspirational all women's event is about empowering women toward a healthy lifestyle. Produced to benefit the Claudia Mayer Cancer Resource Center, Howard County General Hospital's resource to assist those living and coping with cancer, the Athleta Iron Girl Columbia 1/2 Marathon & 5K, seeks to raise money and awareness for this amazing facility.
I am participating in these events, as well as the Pittsburgh Half Marathon (5/5/13) and races in the fall because cancer has touched many of the people in my life that I love and have loved. My grandmother lost her battle with breast cancer when I was a little girl, all of the second cousins on my side of the family have been diagnosed with breast cancer, the mother of my adopted cousins also lost her life to breast cancer, my aunt Kimmy was diagnosed recently with breast cancer, my Uncle Ray had throat cancer, and most recently my Uncle Rick lost his life to an incurable metastatic melanoma. There are entirely too many people to list, and I love them all dearly.
The Claudia Mayer Cancer Resource Center is an anchor to so many people who have been touched and affected by cancer, and it provides services to people regardless of their ability to pay. That is why I need your help! Why else would I run 13.1 miles or participate in a triathlon?!
Please consider donating to the Howard Hospital Foundation to benefit the cancer center. A little or a lot will help. I thank you in advance, and pray that you will be blessed by knowing that you are helping so many others.
