THE STORY:

Strong Schools for All:

Strong schools for all include provisions for supporting triliteracy for many, biliteracy for most, and literacy for every child. While multilingualism is a fact of life for millions of children around the world, biliteray development is not a well understood phenomenon. Few studies have systematically examined the process of learning to read and write in two or more languages simultaneously. Therefore, empirical data on the specific reading struggles and strengths of multilingual learners is lacking. Prevention of achievement difficulties among children learning to read and write in multiple languages warrants research to inform decisions relative to factors which assure early academic success for multilingual students. Our priority research goals include establishing empirical international predictive benchmarks of DICEs performance as cohorts of students progress from grade to grade throughout their school careers around the world.
