BENEFITING: Migraine Research Foundation Inc.
EVENT DATE: Jul 18, 2015
Update: I have sailed across the sound! It wasn't that difficult, and I was encouraged as I sailed by the important cause I did it for. It is amazing how much support I've been given, and I've raised so much awarness and so many donations! I will continue to work for more migraine research funding and awarness, and thank you so much to everyone who supported me!
EVERYTHING DONATED WILL BE MATCHED BY A GENEROUS DONOR
Hi! This is Daisy Griffin. I am a fourteen year old girl who has suffered from severe migraines since I was four years old, and now suffers from chronic migraine. This summer, I am going to sail alone across the Long Island Sound to raise money for migraine research.
This is a very important cause, because many people don't realize that migraine is not just headaches, but a neurogical disease affecting 1 in four households in the United States, or about 38 million people in the US! Having migraine affects sufferers lives terribly, keeping them from spending time with family and friends, working, going to school, and sometimes just from getting out of bed.
Migraine is the least funded of all neurological illnesses and there are no preventative medications developed specifically for people with migraines. So sufferers like me really need your help to fund research. The money raised through my campaign will to the Migraine Research Foundation, an organization that gives 100% of it's donations towards funding migraine research. All donations that you give to my campaign will be doubled! Thank you so much if you decide to support this cause.
