BENEFITING: SUSTAINABLE ALAMANCE
Growing food in an urban setting is not a new idea. But connecting underutilized land, with underutilized people to provide healthy food to those that need it most is new.... at least for our community.
In order to help men and women that face discrimination in the workplace due to past decisions, that landed them with a criminal record, we must help create opportunities that do not just "provide a job" but opportunities that provide a future.
Our project is designed to operate an urban farm as a business, creating income producing opportunities by providing locally grown, healthy food, AND providing access to this food in the neighborhoods that need it the most.
Imagine a community development project that provides for men and women selling healthy foods into a neighborhood where they used to sell drugs!
