I have injected/pricked my body over 5,000 times. Thats 5,000 needles and a handful of tears. I was diagnosed on 11/12/13 with type one diabetes and hospitalized for 3 days. Luckily enough, there was insulin that was discovered in 1921, so good news, it wasn't a death sentence. BUT it wasn't no cure either. It is always a struggle guessing carbs, exercise, sleep, stress, the weather, and everything else that causes my blood sugar to rise and fall. Just because I don't let diabetes stop me, does not mean that it is easy! Every single day and every single second I have to question my logic to make sure that I will not die of low blood sugar or go into a coma from high blood sugar. A place where I can escape my fears is Florida Diabetes Camp. This place is where diabetics come together and have the best times of their lives. We feel like we belong, like we are apart of something for once. Because diabetes is an expensive disease, the camp fee is high. It cost around $600 for one camper to attend. This is why I need everyones help. It only takes 5 seconds to click the link below and donate to my wiffle ball team. All donations are tax deductible and YOU are helping a diabetic in need attend a camp like no other. Please spread the word and help me and all of the diabetics out there. NO donation is too small.
Our team is on a mission this year! Not only do we want to walk away from SLAMDiabetes' 2nd Annual Sam Fuld Tampa Classic with the Champions' trophy in our hands, but we want to do everything we can to help those battling Type 1 diabetes (T1D).
SLAMDiabetes is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the lives of those within the T1D community, especially kids. SLAM's primary focus is to raise funds to send newly diagnosed T1D patients to diabetes education camps. These camperships normally costs between $800-$1,400. So here's the deal:
We need your help to support these campers. You often hear T1D'ers leaving camp and saying "Camp is like a cure for me." Currently there is no cure for T1D, but until there is one...we're going to play some Wiffle Ball.
If we raise $2,000, our team is eligible for the playoffs! Help us surpass that goal and SLAMDiabetes out of the park forever.
Simply click "DONATE" to support the team or your favorite player on our roster today. Thank you for your generosity...now let's go win a championship!
