Save A Charter School
Organized by: Elaine Padron
My name is Elaine Padron and I am principal of South Broward Montessori Charter School. Our population consists of mostly low poverty students of all different races and cultures. When I took this position the district was about to close the doors. I was able to turn the school around and built the student body from 55 to currently 150 in three years. I have the most dedicated staff who does not make nearly what they should, however they keep showing up everyday. The school receives funds from the district, but we barely make it every month. We are in need of laptops, a playground, materials and so much more. The reason I am asking for donations is because we help so many students that would never have had an opportunity to get a good education. Most important the love and respect they are entitled to have. Many of these students come from environments that are not suitable for a child and many of our kinders have not even been exposed to a book. We are trying to break the cycle and give these kids a solid foundation so they can be empowered by education. We are a k-5 school and if we receive extra funds this year it will take us over the hump and help us to put things in place that we really need. I am a humble person and have always tried everything before asking for help, but I feel it's my calling to help these children and keep this school entact and I will do whatever it takes. If one student makes it through and graduates later because we provided them with what every student needs to be successful then it is all worth what we do everyday. It really does take a village to care for children. I appreciate you taking the time to read this and any donations..
