Help save a home! She’s saved many lives and found great homes for them – now she needs our help to save her home! Kari Nugent is known for saving the lives of many dogs and cats. She brought a tiny Chihuahua all the way from California through a network of volunteers, including truck drivers, and saved her life. She’s driven off the grid to rescue animals from mills. She’s scooped up broken kittens from the road, fixed their broken bones and found them homes. She’s stayed up many nights nursing sick or hurt animals to keep them alive. She’s had as many as 14 animals at her house at one time. She volunteers at the Dearborn Animal Shelter, which is loved by many. Now Kari is in danger of losing her home and needs help. She has a historical home and was having necessary renovation done to remove and rebuild an unsafe floor. The contractor dropped the ceiling onto her living room floor, causing asbestos to spread throughout her entire home and then he took off. Asbestos is considered a dangerous, cancer-causing substance and there are strict regulations that make clean up very expensive. For eight weeks she’s lived in a hotel with her dogs scattered in dog care, while her insurance did nothing but pay for the hotel. Now they’ve denied the claim and booted her from the hotel. She and her six rescued dogs will now be moving in with a friend until the house can be cleaned. Her insurance will not pay to have it cleaned up, the contractor who did it won't pay. She needs $20,000 to pay for the removal of the asbestos so the work can resume on her home or she will lose her mortgage/home. She needs to put a deposit down ASAP. Unfortunately, most of the contents of her home will need to be disposed of due to the contamination. Will you please help Kari keep her home so she can continue to help our furry friends?
