BENEFITING: SOUTHSIDE VIRGINIA WILDLIFE CENTER
Since 2012, Southside Virginia Wildlife Center has been saving orphaned, ill and injured wildlife. Our Center serves 6 counties in Southern Virginia and has saved over 2,000 wild animals in the last 4 years alone. Wildlife in need comes to us in the hands of caring rescuers that want to give these precious animals a second chance at life. Rescued orphans are found in the arms or pouch of their dead mom on the side of the road, or perhaps a nest of orphaned babies are discovered in a tree that was cut down. Many owls and hawks come to the Center because they were illegally shot or poisoned by humans. We care for hundreds of different species per year and are privy to the miraculous recovery and will to survive that these animals possess. This is your chance to give back to these amazing creatures. Orphan season starts in late March of each year and extends through September. Hand raised orphans require around-the-clock feedings, specialized formulas and housing, and species-specific outdoor habitats to facilitate their successful release back into the wild. Hundreds of volunteer hours are put into these deserving souls to ensure that they survive. Our staff is completely volunteer so every cent donated goes to help our wild patients heal, grow and survive. The Southside Virginia Wildlife Center does not receive funds from any government agency and we rely completely on donations to keep our Center running. Your donations provide formula, food, housing, and hope for all of the animals in our care. Thank you so much for caring about wildlife!
