Every summer we save dozens of starving orphaned bats from prolonged suffering and we give them a second chance at life.
Bat pups are orphaned for several reasons. Mothers may not return to the pup because of accidents caused by storms as well as becoming prey to owls and hawks. However, the biggest problem bats have are created by humans. This includes pesticide runoff, habitat loss and exclusions being preformed during maternity season. We have created so many problems for these intelligent, sentient beings, who only want to live peacefully just like us. This is a chance to give back.
Orphan season starts in late May of each year and extends through late September. Hand-raised orphans require round-the-clock feedings, specialized formulas and housing, transitioning to live insects and pre-release flight training. Hundreds of volunteer hours are put into making sure these helpless pups survive. An orphan bat released back to the wild can live 25 years or more and eat millions and millions of harmful insects in its lifetime.
Your donations help us put formula into a starving orphan’s belly, provide pain medications and antibiotics for injured mother bats, giving them a chance to fly free once again. Please donate to help these precious souls survive.
