“Save Our Streets” was formed due to the extremely high level of crime and violence that has been plaguing Chicago's urban communities within the last 5 years. Although the news about youth violence eventually affects every young person, most of the young people directly affected, grows up in Chicago’s most distressed neighborhoods. In these areas, high school drop-out rates and unemployment are extremely high and many schools and social service agencies are struggling to stay open. These plus many other circumstances that lead to youth violence and social issues, must all be addressed differently. By using a combination of Positive Programming, Outreach, Prevention, Intervention, Response, and Mentorship, our Organization has set forth to address many of these circumstances and issues.
