Save CVCHS Legal Fund
Organized by: Concerned Community Members
UPDATE: None of the funds raised on this site were used on behalf of Pat Middendorf's recent lawsuit.
It has become clear to many of us in the Clayton Valley Charter High School community that the founding philosophy of the charter- collaborative leadership, and the practice of the board and administration are no longer aligned. We have taken our concerns to the administration and to the board. These concerns have fallen on deaf ears as the board is guided by legal counsel who seems to have their own agenda. Finally, we have decided to embark upon the only avenue that seems to be effective- we will take legal action. A number of interested individuals have retained legal counsel, have a legal strategy as supported by their attorney, and will be building their case. Our goal is substantive change to realign the school with the philosophies of the original charter. But, while the charter leadership has seemingly unlimited funds for legal services (a shocking $250,000 spent within the last six months alone) our teachers and community members will be paying for their legal services personally. The anticipated cost of the action is $17,000, of which $1,500 has already been raised.
With the money raised so far, several teachers and community members have met with an education law attorney to begin the preparation stage for filing a lawsuit. Additional donations will help pay for the continued litigation as the case progresses.
Please donate if you believe in the original philosophies of what we fought so hard to realize here at Clayton Valley Charter High School.
