EVENT DATE Apr 24, 2015
This fundraiser is for a friend, Duy Leim, who is going through some very hard times due to complications of his type 2 diabetes.
Diabetes is dangerous if not treated. Many complications can arise in many different ways. Unfortunately, the following complications are happening right now:
> Diabetes can damage the blood vessels of the retina. (diabetic retinopathy) Which has led to full blindness in Duy’s right eye, as well as partial blindness is Duy’s left eye. Diabetes also increases the risk of other serious vision conditions, such as cataracts and glaucoma.
> Diabetes can damage the blood vessels in the kidneys. Your kidneys cannot clean your blood properly. Due to the extensive damage, Duy is in need of a kidney transplant. Currently Duy is in the process of getting on a donor list.
We are hopeful that Duy will find a kidney donor and make a strong recovery, the purpose of this fundraising is to assist Duy with his medical bills. When you are in a terrible situation with your health, the last thing you should need to worry about is how to pay for the treatments that will save your life.
With support from friends and the community, we are looking to alleviate the mounting medical bills, loss of wages and miscellaneous expenses Duy and his family will incur, which in turn will allow Duy peace of mind to focus solely on his recovery. Anything you can share will make a difference.
