Save Iko's Leg!
Organized by: Tiffany Flood
Hey all! My name is Tiffany and I attend Appalachian State University, located in Boone, North Carolina. About 2 weeks ago, a friend contacted me about a stray dog that her mother had found. The shelter he would have been going to was a kill shelter, so I volunteered to foster him. It just so happened that my neighbor Richard ended up adopting him!
We took Iko to the vet today to have the doctor look at his back leg. We think he may have been hit by a car. The vet said that to avoid amputation, Iko will need a Femoral Head Osteotomy (FHO), which would basically removed the part of the bone that is bulging out of his leg. Between the multiple office visits, sedation, x-rays & surgery we are looking at an estimated $1,500 bill.
Richard and I both go to school and work as much as possible. Even between the two of us, we aren't sure how we are going to get this extra money to pay for Iko's surgery. He is such a sweet dog and deserves the best life possible, which is why we are asking for any help towards his bills. (Every dollar truly helps!!) We want Iko healthy and happy, so he can live a normal life and run around with all of the neighboring dogs, like he deserves. If anyone chooses to donate, know that we greatly, greatly appreciate your kind gestures -- we know Iko does too. Please help us give this little guy the life he deserves!
