BENEFITING: ST FRANCIS FOUNDATION
St. Francis was the first childcare to pair the very young with the elderly residents in a special program where they learn and play together. For the past 29 years, we have been housed in the same building where our mission began. Avamere Living Centers is the current owner of St. Francis of Bellingham. They have made a business decision to renovate St. Francis and develop the facility into the premiere rehabilitation center in Whatcom County.Unfortunately, the new plans do not include space to house our childcare center.
In our 29 years, we have served over 1,885 children and families. St. Francis Childcare currently serves 65 children and over 60 families in Whatcom County. These children and families will be without childcare in a county that has limited quality childcare, and the existing programs cannot absorb our families. We need your help to save our childcare!
Mt. Baker Care Facility has offered us a space to house our unique intergenerational program but we need funds to make the space ready for licensing. We need $200,000 quickly so we can start construction and open in February at the new site. We will be able to have our children and the residents at Mt. Baker connect and continue our mission. The St. Francis Foundation operates a quality educational childcare center benefiting the young and old by providing a positive, interactive intergenerational environment. The intergenerational program provides a wonderful opportunity for children and residents to establish nurturing relationships through spontaneous interactions and a variety of planned activities.
The Foundation is a non-profit and does not have the funds available to make this move. We need $200,000 to continue our mission, to save this childcare and this very special program!
