Many of you know this adorable little love-nugget, Monster. She's the precocious puppy of the beloved, hard-working, and generous Ben and Heidi Montague.
3 weeks ago, while Ben and Heidi were out of the country for a much-belated honeymoon, Monster was struck by a car at Echo Park Lake. The driver took off as her traumatized nanny, Dayna, rushed her to the hospital.
Monster spent 8 oxygen-dependent days in the hospital due to her fluid-filled lungs and 3 fractured ribs (she will also most likely have her right front leg amputated some time in the near future). Making matters worse, after returning home from the hospital Monster then suffered an FCE (basically a spinal stroke) that has temporarily paralyzed both of her rear legs. She can't walk right now, and eating is difficult, but her spirits are amazingly high (I mean look at this face) and the vets are confident that with some rehabilitation she can get back to her happy, jumpy, face-licky self!
Her medical bills have already topped $12,000 and the rehab is expected to cost a MINIMUM of $3,000 more!!! Monster had a totally clean bill of health with no issues before this accident. Ben and Heidi feel she has a lot of really great years left. Everyone who's been around her agrees -- she's the same Monster and she's trying to get well again!
Whether you know Monster, whether you've loved an animal like part of your family, or just have it in you to help some great people who do.... anything you can contribute would be amazing!
Thank you xo
