Peanut is having lots of diagnostic tests done because it's suspected he has Cushings.
We were first contacted about Peanut on August 25, 2014 by a family in the upscale neighborhood where he was abandoned. On August 26, 2014, the family's daughter was able to catch Peanut and hold on to him until I could get to where they live. The story we got was that Peanut's owner moved in with her mother. At some point, the owner moved out, leaving Peanut behind with the mother and mother just kicked him out of the house to live in the cul-de-sac where the home is, alone.
After picking him up, we instantly went to the vet where he was boarded for days as he was dewormed for massive amounts of roundworms and hookworms, he was bathed with special shampoo for his thinning hair and sunburned skin, he got eyedrops for a corneal lesion, etc.
The foster mom noticed that Peanut's lymph node under his neck was "swollen", so we've been running lots of test trying to rule out Cushings, but no official diagnosis yet. In the meantime, we've racked up a bill of about $500 up through yesterday. Our little rescue was not prepared to take on bills like this, but we couldn't fail Peanut like his original family did.
