SAVE PISA PIZZA
Organized by: Alex Smith
Pisa Pizza has served our community for years - now it is time to give back! Dear friends and family, on August 30th, 2013, our brother/uncle Rich is potentially facing the closure of his business, Pisa Pizza. Due to the economic situation, business in the past year has declined which has resulted in him falling behind on paying his bills. In order for his business to remain open, we are hoping to help raise enough money to keep his doors open. If you are able to make a contribution towards this effort, your donation will create an opportunity for Rich to maintain the business and product that he has been dedicated to for the past 30-years, as he started working for the business as a pizza line cook at the age of 16. Your acts of donating and/or making others aware of this charity effort are greatly appreciated. As the family generations before him, Rich has been a member of the Pilsen community all of his life. While working daily in maintaining a successful business that prides itself in quality pizza and in developing relationships with the community, Rich has always extended his generosity and kind-hearted nature to community organizations through the donations of pizza to support local causes and fundraisers. He has also been the empathic man who fed the homeless when they sought food and needed something to eat. He has maintained a long-ago tradition of giving toys to children at christmas time and candy on Halloween. Since starting his career 30 years ago, Rich has nearly worked 7 days a week, every week, every month, of every year -- he has taken off barely a handful of days each year as he has always considered his role as a business owner to be a major priority. Our effort at seeking donations is driven by our belief that the act of giving without expectation creates karma that will bring future happiness -- this is the philosophy that Rich has lived his life -- and as such, we are hopeful that this effort may temporarily shift from his perspective of giving to that of receiving. This fundraising attempt has been coordinated by family members who are closest to Rich as he has been a supportive brother in addition to an involved and loving uncle, or as we refer to him, a loving 3rd parent to his nieces. We confidently acknowledge that any person who has interacted with Rich has also experienced the warmth and genuineness that we, his family, have been able to receive during our lifetime. Challenging life events and temporary barriers have made Rich stronger and increasingly compassionate and hard-working -- when faced with challenges, he rises to the occasion and has worked even harder, which at times, makes us wonder, how does a man remain so strong-willed and motivated when most people, including ourselves, would find it difficult to hold on to a hopeful attitude. Again, your contributions are appreciated and we are hopeful that the many acts of giving and charity will help Rich during his time of great need.
