THE STORY:

The John M. Boude house is a Civil War era home that has been used as a farmhouse since being built. This home is located near the Burlington Path which was used for the underground railroad. We are trying to save the historic house and relocate it to the protected Oakley Farmstead Museum complex. If moved down the street and placed on a new foundation, we can then make necessary repairs in order to open the home for educational tours. We would also like to use this as a arts and culture center.

I am thrilled to participate in the preservation a irreplaceable landmark home. Especially since this year is the 150th anniversary of the end of the Civil War. This 1860's house represents a link to our country's historic legacy. Homes are being lost at a fast pace and these old homes tell a story. Preserving them keeps the story(ies) alive. Join me in this great cause. Good Luck to the Heritage Society 3 years ago
