SAVE THE KING CLASSIC KARATE TOURNAMENT
Organized by: Saleem's Karate-Do
EVENT DATE Oct 25, 2015
The King Classic is an annual karate tournament hosted by Saleem’s Karate Do, located inside the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center. For the last 22 years, this tournament has welcomed martial artists ranging in age from three to 50+. Competitors come from all over the country to showcase their skills, techniques, discipline and sportsmanship by competing in kata, self-defense and sparring. However, due to a lack of funding, the King Classic is at risk of cancellation. In order for this tournament to take place, we need to raise $2,500. Please donate now to ensure Milwaukee's longest consecutively running tournament continues.
Shihan Tawau Saleem operates under the old African proverb: “It takes a village to raise a child.” No student is ever rejected because of an inability to pay, behavioral issues or low grades. Saleem continues to teach the importance of hard work, self-control, and accountability. His training programs extends beyond the physical to prepare students for real world situations and the consequences of poor decision making. As the longest consecutively running Karate tournament in Milwaukee, The King Classic provides students with a safe space to compete, and build relationships with those in the community. This tournament is not only a tradition, but a Milwaukee martial arts staple. With your help, we can continue to inspire excellence in Milwaukee's youth and beyond.
The cost to fund the King Classic is $2,500. Suggested donation is $50 but everything is appreciated. This will cover the cost of supplies, trophies, and venue. Lets SAVE THE KING CLASSIC!
