If you know me, you understand that music has always been an essential part of my life. Through the years, I've been fortunate to have experienced so much through performing and I've been lucky to have made connections with a great many super talented people who inspire me.
For as long as I can remember, I've dreamed of bringing people together to share their talents for a tremendous cause — I'm finally doing it on Nov. 22.
Save The Music Long Island Featuring Rich Jacques And Friends will be an evening of music and collaboration featuring yours truly and some amazingly gifted pals of mine. From the list of performers that have committed so far, I have no doubt that there will be something for everyone to enjoy at this charity concert.
All ticket proceeds from the event at the prestigeous Tilles Center For The Performing Arts' Hillwood Recital Hall will go directly to the VH1 Save The Music Foundation and to the Port Washington Play Troupe which will begin what looks to be an annual music scholarship at LIU Post.
VH1 Save The Music Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to restoring instrumental music education programs in America's public schools, and raising awareness about the importance of music as part of each child's complete education.
Trust me, I would love it if everyone I know could make it to the show but I understand that through location and schedule constraints it might be difficult for some to make it to the event. But that doesn't mean you can't help the cause in a huge way. Here's how:
All proceeds from this CrowdRise page will go directly to funding the amazing musicians needed to make this event the best it can be. Namely, LIU Post senior Jason Reese (our music director) and his swinging jazz band consisting of current LIU Post students and graduates who will make the music happen at the event.
My intention is to raise funds to pay the band through this page, rather than use ticket receipts which will take away from funds to be donated to charity. My goal is to raise a minimum of $3000 for the music scholarship through the concert. One third of the proceeds from the show will go directly to the VH1 Save The Music Foundation.
So, if you can't make it to the show, please help the cause by donating to the band through this page. As a musician, I'm big on getting musicians as much as possible for their rehearsal time and especially their talent.
My goal is to raise $500 on this site to pay the band. Any amount will help. Donations of $10 and up will be greatly appreciated.
Feel free to donate as much or as little as you like here. Every dollar is appreciated! All donors will be applauded to the fullest and recognized and praised in the event program. Any who donate $20 or more will get a free DVD of the show upon request.
Showtime is 8 p.m. Admission wil be $15. Tickets may be purchased here. The ticket price for children 12 and under is $5 at the door.
For those planning to attend, you'll be doing more than enough to help the cause by purchasing tickets. A ticket purchase link will be made available this week. Further details and a list of performers will be provided at the ticket purchase site when it goes live.
Thanks for tuning in and I hope to see each and every one of you at the event. If not, please help to make this charity concert one of the most special events of my life and help keep music education alive and well.
... and may the music live in all of us, everywhere, always.
