THE STORY:

National Wildlife Humane Society wrote -

There are less than 3,200 wild tigers left in the world. Half of these wild tigers are located in India. National Wildlife Humane Society and Wildlife Trust of India (WTI) have recently forged a conservation alliance to benefit three vital and important tiger protection projects in India. This new program is called "WTI - Wild Tiger Conservation Program". NWHS considers it an honor to assist WTI in their conservation work to preserve and protect the remaining wild tigers in India. Although this WTI-NWHS Program is new, the wild tiger projects have been operating for several years with a solid background of many real accomplishments.

This collaboration allows anyone in the world to make direct personal assistance through NWHS, to WTI's wild tiger field projects, and play a very real part in the effort to preserve the wild tigers in India. These projects are "in the field and on the ground" by a group of highly motivated people with WTI. Each one of the three projects are multi-faceted and covers Anti-poaching/Illegal Trade Control, Sustainable Forest Conservation, Community Partnerships, Education, Tiger Rescue and Release, Human-Tiger Conflict Mitigation, Tiger Population Research etc.

These three vital projects are;
UTTAR PRADESH TIGER CONSERVATION PROJECT
VALMIKI CONSERVATION PROJECT and
RAPID ACTION PROJECTS (RAP)

As we end of "The Year Of The Tiger" (Feb. 2, 2011) sadly, we are also nearing the end of the wild tigers. It will take more than throwing millions of dollars at "advocacy" and rhetoric with no real plan. It takes dedicated people working in the field where the tigers are, responding to the many pressures currently placed on wild tigers. People like the WTI field conservationists and wildlife professionals. There are no celebrity spokespersons, no TV commercials, or no slick ad campaigns for this program.
WTI, NWHS and YOU can and will make a difference!

Please view the NWHS alliance page for WTI, and the Presentation Video to get an overview of what these three projects entail and are accomplishing.

We invite the public to explore the many conservation efforts involving wild tigers in India by WTI, and lend support to this very worthy cause. If you are unable to assist financially at this time, please help in getting the word out about the WTI Wild Tiger Conservation Program through National Wildlife Humane Society.
