BENEFITING: SOUTHERN COUNTIES RESCUE
Last month we got an email at 4:30 PM about a cat named Bean in the Orange County Shelter. If he was not rescued by 5PM he would be euthanized. You see Bean was dumped at the shelter rather than being taken to the vet by his owner.
Bean had a urinary tract blockage which was discovered by the shelter staff and initially treated with a catheter...but it wasn't working and Bean needed to see a Specialty Vet as soon as possible. When we called the shelter at 4:45 we were told, "not sure if he is still alive." He was and with the efforts of volunteers and the shelter staff we rescued him and took him to a 24 hour Specialty Vet facility on a Friday night.
Bean again was treated with a catheter and IV and antibiotics but by Saturday it was determined it wasn't working he was too blocked and he needed surgery to save his life. We went forward with the surgery running up a bill of over $3400. The good news is that it saved him!
Bean had to be kept caged for 4 weeks since the vet didn't want him to jump or run. He also had one relapse so had another stay at the hopsital but he has recovered nicely and soon he will be up for adoption. Bean turned out to be a total love, he gives hugs and likes to hang out on your shoulder. Soon he will have his own forever home!!
The bad news is that we didn't have the funds to pay the bills so one of our volunteers put them on her credit card and now we need to pay it back. Please help Bean and Southern Counties Rescue so we won't hesitate to save other cats in need with a donation of any amount.
