SAVING HOME FROM THE BIG BAD WOLF
Organized by: Deanna Harper
This is a story about a woman who cared and was always giving to people. A sad day came in March 14, 2016 when our beloved mother suddenly passed away. After her death, my sisters and I found out that she did a senior citizen reverse loan with Wells Fargo Bank. It's a loan that no longer exits and was set-up to give senior citizens a home if something was to happen and to protect them from the bank taking the home. My parents home was brought in 1970 and they never had any previous loan against the house. My parents did not go to college but work very hard to make sure they always kept a home over our heads. They would even help out other people that was homeless and needed a place to stay and eat. I moved back in my mother's house with my autistic son as a result of a bad marriage with an abusive husband. My parent's home served as a safe haven for my son and I. Anyone who ever needed anything from money to food or a place to stay, my parents would always allow them to stay. All they wanted was for the person to get better and fix their problems. They would never judge was were always there to help. Since my mom's passing I have been trying to keep the home. I have tried several banks and have tried to get help from family members to no avail. My sweet son even offered me his last dollar to save the home, which of course wasn't enough but showed just how much he values the home as well. I told him to hold on and that miracles do happen. I pray that it's God's will that we can keep the house. I would like to keep my mother's wonderful tradition of helping others. The back story of the why my mother had to apply for a senior citizen loan was she put her house up in order to help someone else who's house had caught on fire. She took out the loan for this person in order for them fix their home. The insurance company was taking to long for the person and of course when my mom heard the news she was willing to help. A long sorry short, when the person finally did receive the money from the Insurance company they did not pay my mother back her money. Nothing was put in writing between this person and my mother and of course my sisters and I found out about this after her passing. I did confront the person regarding the matter, pleading for them to do the right thing. They refused. And here we are today asking for help. This is my final option as the home will go into foreclosure. I pray someone can help and thank you for listening to my story.
