HUMANE SOCIETY OF THE OZARKS INC wrote -Hope and Tank were found on a cold Ozarks Sunday afternoon. Hope is an adult boxer that is severely malnourished. In fact, she is one the most emaciated dogs that was still alive and walking that some of our directors have ever seen. When admitted to the veterinary clinic she weighed 20 lbs. An adult female boxer should weigh between 55 and 75 lbs! Miraculously she does not have heart worms, but her blood tests indicate many signs of long term malnutrition that will take time to correct. Getting a starved dog to a healthy weight and developing appropriate eating habits such as not gorging themselves is a slow process and requires close supervision. When she is at a healthy weight she will also need to be spayed and have some dental work done prior to being adopted. Tank is an adult male pit bull. While not as severely malnourished as Hope, he is underweight as well. He tested positive for a tick borne disease called Ehrilichiosis that requires antibiotic treatment prior to being neutered. Both dogs have incredibly sweet dispositions and will make wonderful family pets once they are healthy. The lengthy stays they will need at the veterinary clinic and then the doggy daycare/training center prior to adoption will take a toll on our rescue funds. Please consider donating to our fund to save Hope & Tank so we can show them the life they so deserve.
