BENEFITING: ANIMAL RESCUE AND FOSTER PROGRAM INC
The Animal Rescue & Foster Program is a 23 year old not for profit volunteer organization dedicated to giving abandoned puppies and kittens, dogs and cats, a second chance. We provide foster homes, medical care, and adoption services to each animal. The animals we rescue come from our community and surrounding areas. This month the Animal Rescue & Foster Program was invited into one of our local shelters for the first time in almost 17 years. Before that we were frequent visitors volunteering, walking dogs, holding kitties, and taking the ones we could into foster homes. These local shelters have been mishandled, therefore leaving animals to suffer.
It's a horribly sad situation. We are committed to doing as much as we can for the shelter dogs and cats, in addition to serving our community. To take on these extra animals we will need support from our community and our friends. Donations are needed for veterinary care. Many of these animals have medical needs, in addition to needing to be vaccinated, dewormed, and spayed/neutered. Every donation matters.... You can find ARFP on Facebook or at www.arfpnc.com. For more information e-mail us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Most of the dogs we pulled from the shelter have fallen sick with bronchitis and issues that go with that. All of the kittens we pulled are struggling with upper respiratory problems. We are so thankful for your help and help from the community. All of the felines have now been tested for feline diseases, and thank goodness, all tested negative. We are still in the process of having the canines tested for heartworms. No one has been spayed/neutered as of yet. Many are not nearly healthy enough to even think of putting under anesthesia.
Both of the county shelters involved in this horrible mess have reached out to us to please help them with more animals. We have not been to the Davidson County Animal Shelter yet. We have to make sure that the little ones we pulled from the Guilford Shelter are well on their way to becoming healthy. Financially we have to care for these first.
This is why we really want to make our goal, There are so many more that are still in need of help.
