In January of 2016, Hawaii became the first state to introduce the Safe Child Act, a bill that will end court-ordered child abuse and make the courts safe for abused women. This bill will make some significant changes to Hawaii’s family courts, and significant change is always met with significant opposition. The bill was tabled in committee.
The only way we can get this bill passed is to bring in a team of experts and let them meet with legislators, judges, and the other stakeholders. And we need $2000 to do that. This is an investment in making Hawaii a better place for kids to grow up. And passing the Safe Child Act in one state will make it easier to pass in others.
The Safe Child Act will ensure that judges can’t give children to a parent who sexually abuses them. It will keep domestic violence from our family courts. It will save lives. But it won’t happen without your help.
Can you chip in a few dollars to help? Perhaps run a small fundraiser, a bake sale, a sponsored ice cream eating contest, or another way to raise these vital funds?
