Hand in Hand's vision is to create vibrant and inclusive shared society in Israel through a network of integrated bilingual schools and organized community activities that bring together Jewish and Arab citizens on a daily basis.
In Hand in Hand’s schools and communities, Jews and Arabs interact daily in an environment of equality and mutual respect. They learn each other’s languages, traditions and histories and openly grapple with difficult societal and cultural issues in a safe and respectful environment. They learn civic responsibility and the importance of actively working together for social change. They also understand the complexities of a shared Israeli society and the importance of dialogue between Jews and Arabs.
What began with two first grade classes in 1998, has now grown into a network of 6 schools and communities with over 1,300 students and 6,000 adults. Over the next 10 years, Hand in Hand aims to create a network of 10-15 integrated bilingual schools, which will be supported and enhanced by organized community activities, altogether involving more than 20,000 Jewish and Arab Israeli citizens. This education driven movement sets the stage for a genuine shared society in Israel.
Our success is based on a three-way partnership that ensures that our activities are viable and sustainable: (1) The Ministry of Education provides core support for our schools; (2) Parents pay tuition towards our bilingual model, and (3) Supporters from within Israel and around the world contribute the difference to make these schools and communities a reality.

Hand in Hand is facing unprecedented demand. Hundreds of new Jewish and Arab students and their families have applied to join Hand in Hand’s six schools this September. These families have decided that they want to raise their children in a community that fosters inclusion and equality and offers an outstanding education. However, we urgently require additional support to add and expand classes so that we can open our doors to these new families at the beginning of the coming school year.
These families have made a commitment – they are saying YES to building a shared society. Help us say YES to them!
This September, we want to say YES to at least 200 new Jewish and Arab students and their families by opening 7 – 11 new classes throughout our school network. With your help we can change their lives, and expand the impact of our schools and communities.
