Here's what our teamleader Martin Rowe had to say about this very worthy cause:
"As you can imagine, we... do a lot of, er, running. We realize that running is a privilege as well as a pleasure, and we'd like to give back." True, running is a central part of our lives, but as much as we love running, we think it's essential to give.
This Fall, I will be running a series of road races: NYRR Bronx 10 Miles (September 27), NYRR Staten Island Half (October 11), and GORE-TEX Philadelphia Marathon (November 22).
We have decided to pool our talents and fundraising efforts toward the same organization: Back On My Feet NYC, which provides homeless individuals with essential resources (including job training, life skills, and other assistance), accompanied by the discipline, pleasure, and camaraderie of running. We hope you'll support an organization that is so committed to helping people achieve their goals, expand their horizons, and get back on their feet, by doing the thing that we like to do most: run!
Any donation is welcome, no minimum to benefit those who need it more than I do. And if you give $50 or more, you will a FREE copy of RUNNING, EATING, THINKING: A Vegan Anthology (Lantern Books).
But just like there's more than running in life, there's more than one cause dear to my heart. I am also raising funds for the Humane League, a US-based organization dedicated to the alleviation of farm animal suffering. As a vegan runner and animal advocate, I am honored to support a top-ranked organization according to Animal Charity Evaluators. The good news is, if you give at least $25 to the Humane League and at least $25 to Back on My Feet NYC, Lantern Books will also send you a free copy of RUNNING, EATING, THINKING: A Vegan Anthology. How does that sound?
Good, right? so now it's time to give, support and run!
