Scarlet Ceniza Carlos
Organized by: Mayas Friends
As most of you know me I am someone that for the most part doesn't like to ask for help or burden others with my sorrows, but now I'm not alone & as a mother I know I need to speak up. On the 24th of November I gave birth to a beautiful baby girl, her name is Scarlet Ceniza. At about three weeks old I noticed that something wasn't quite right with her & at that time I took her to the doctor.
She was diagnosed with Hydrocephaly; this is a condition where the fluid surrounding the brain increases beyond its normal volume, causing pressure to the brain. Last Tuesday, at one month old, Scarlet was operated & had a shunt placed in her head to drain the liquid. The surgery was successful but the underlying cause is still yet to be determined. We have been here in the hospital in Belize City since then & are trying to get her what she needs as soon as possible.
My hope is to get her to the states as soon as possible for further care & diagnosis, however until she is stable or we can organize a medical transfer of care we will be here. So far we have had amazing support from those in our life that are aware of what's been happening, and now I am just opening the door on her behalf to receive any other prayers or thoughts that may help.
Thank you so much & God bless you all from our hearts to yours! Maya
