BENEFITING: Southern California German Shepherd Rescue Inc.
EVENT: Saving Pets Challenge 2015
Aaron, me, Betty and the Cats have been working with Southern California German Shepherd Rescue (SCGSR) for close to two years now and have fostered Gia/Cassie, Raj, Victory, Sassy/Pearl, Sierra/Prancer,Crissie/Crystal, Spirit/Skillet, Jasmine (who we adopted), and now...we have SAMPSON, all pictured to the left!
SCGSR is a 501(c)3 nonprofit that receives no public subsidies and is funded solely through donations made by supporters. Every dollar donated goes directly to help rescue dogs – SCGSR has no paid directors or employees. And now, they're in the Found Animals CrowdRise contest where they have the chance to win over $50,000 in prize money! I know this is a great organization that works hard for a great cause. Through SCGSR, we alone have been an intimate part of the lives of 9 wonderful dogs over these 2 years and improving their lives when they may have otherwise died in high-kill shelters, from unmet medical conditions, or covered in parasites on the streets of Tijuana.
Being that we are currently fostering Sampson, my goal is to help raise funds for 3 additional years of his basic care, totaling $1,920.
- $30/month in food ($1,080)
- $200/year in vaccinations ($600)
- $80/year in joint medication ($240)
- Sampson has also requested a new couch to replace his old one, but he doesn't quite understand or care about the space restraints of his foster house. Nonetheless, he wanted me to promise to include his request! :)
You see, Sampson is an 11 year old senior boy who came into the rescue 2 years ago. He was dumped at the age of 9 because his family was moving and couldn't take him. Because of his age, and despite his wonderfully calm and mature nature (not to mention his lovable sense of humor), Sampson is often over-looked by potential adopters for a younger dog. We love Sampson to the moon and will be happy to foster him for as long as he needs; however, this prohibits us from fostering other dogs. With the money we're able to raise for SCGSR to cover Sampson's care for the next few years, SCGSR will be able to use these funds to pay for shelter space for another dog that they may have had to turn away otherwise because of lack of foster space or funding.
If you've seen the work we've done with SCGSR, I invite you to join our fundraising team by going here: https://www.crowdrise.com/scgsr-savingpets2015 and click 'Fundraise for This Campaign'. And if you can't fundraise, please consider donating to this challenge to benefit SCGSR and the wonderful and meaningful work they do. Sampson and I thank you for checking out our page and for your support!
