Schizo Affective Disorder
Organized by: Pete Meriweather
I am mentally ill as of 1999. On November 2, 1999, I stabbed my mother to a near death. I was charged with assult with the intention to murder. After 7 months in jail, I was found not guilty by reasons of insanity. After this verdict, I was sent to the Center for Forensic Psychiatry. I spent 27 months here as a patient. I was diagnosed with Schizo Affective Disorder shortly after arriving. From there, I was sent to a state hospital where I lived for 13 months until fit to return to society. I eventually landed at a halfway house for the mentally ill, where I lived for thirteen months before being released to live with family. My story is much deeper than this. I don't want money. I just want people to know what has happened to me has changed me as a person. Unlike most mentally people you may know and see, you can not always tell what people have been through or for that point, what people are experiencing in the moment. I live by three motivations. Be faithful, be honest and be kind. Live by Grace with a sound mind as this is a gift!
