My parents were huge advocates for my education. My father had come to the US in the 60’s to attend Northwestern University, and seeing his children excel in school just as he did was a constant goal. He was excited to see me starting at the Early Entrance Program at California State University Los Angeles. During my first quarter of school, my dad passed away of a sudden heart attack. He was only 54.
The coming years were a tough journey, both emotionally and financially. It was with the help of scholarships (along with the two waitressing jobs that my mom took on to support us) that I was able to continue my education and live the dream I am in today.
Now it’s my chance to give back and help another kid who does not have the finances to make it on his own.
Reena and I have set out of a goal of raising $10,000 over the next 5 years for this scholarship fund, both through our donations and those of our family and friends.
Thank you for taking part in our journey.
This scholarship is in honor of you, Dad, on the 20th anniversary of your passing. It is my heartfelt way of saying ‘Thank You’ for setting me up to care for my family and my patients during the 12 short years you were in my life. I love you and miss you so much.
