Scholarship for Sanchez Mwakhanyu
Organized by: Journey Stewart
When Sanchez grows up he wants to be a lawyer, so that he can fight against the injustices that plague his community. But Sanchez was born in Soweto- one of Kenya's most impoverished slums, and like many of his peers, his single mum can't afford the school fees to cover his high school education. I first met Sanchez when he was just a little boy in primary school. His smile instantly melted my heart, and I have since watched him grow into the kind and tenacious young man he is today. I know that Sanchez has both the desire and determination to change the world; he just needs a little help to get started. Education changes everything. Without school Sanchez will have no other choice but to look for work, which isn't easy for a 16 year old kid. With a little love, encouragement, and a few dollars- we can help break the cycle. Together, we can catalyze the change that so badly needs to happen.
