SMILING CALM HEARTS OPEN OUR LEARNING via Crowdrise
September 24, 2013
Educating the heart for greater learning in public schools.
SCHOOL classes teach children how to calm the breath and heart for improved learning. We use proven secular yoga and meditation techniques to promote relaxation and mental focus. Children also learn empathetiic life skills such as patience, listening, and helping others.
We care about the well being of teachers and share practical tools for classroom management and stress reduction. Our goal is to help create environments where learning can flourish.
SCHOOL classes are taught by volunteers who are trained specifically to teach within the public school system. Our approach is secular and grounded in scientific, medical research.
We serve children and teachers within inner cities. Your donation will support SCHOOL programs and help us reach deep into these traditionally underserved areas.
How you can help:
A little support helps many hearts.
For $15, SCHOOL can provide one 20-minute class for 26+ children and their teacher.
For just $45, SCHOOL can help 3 classrooms, each classroom receiving 20-minutes of calming techniques. Or we can teach one classroom for 3 weeks.
Gifts of $90 will allow SCHOOL to go into 3 classrooms twice a month.
With support of $180, SCHOOL can teach 3 classrooms for one month, helping them build calming skills.
When you give $450, a public school teacher receives a scholarship for the SCHOOL Teacher Training course.
To show our children we care about their learning and well-being, gifts of $1500 support the SCHOOL program within 3 classrooms for one academic year. Best results occur with weekly classes for an entire academic year.
SCHOOL, Inc. founder, Kelly Wood, is an expert yoga teacher and studio owner with more than 2,000 hours teaching children in public schools and over 20,000 hours teaching and training adults/parents/therapist and physicians.
