School for the Deaf-School Sup
Organized by: Sherry Carlay
I am raising funds for the Viklang Kalyan Samiti School for the Deaf in Udaipur, Rajasthan, India. This school is the only school for the Deaf in that part of Rajasthan and as such is vital to the Deaf community. I have seen first hand the importance of the school. The school has allowed friendships and a Deaf community to form strong and lasting bonds. Two years ago I interned at the school for three months and got to know the staff and students very well. It is an important place for the Deaf community. I have visited again after two years and saw some great improvements. A new staff has been hired and now there are 210 students, whereas before there were only 120. The school is low on funds though since it is run by a non-profit and provides free education to its students. I am asking for donations to help with simple but vital supplies. Uniforms for students, books, a new coat of paint, blankets, toys ect. Any amount will make a difference. An education can empower an individual and change a community.
