Schools for the underpriveledged
Organized by: Barbara Nadeem
24 million children in Pakistan do not attend any school. The country faces 40% poverty in addition to 1/3 of the total population live well below poverty. Many children are either runaway's who often get caught up in drugs, prostitution, steeling, professional begging and other types of abuse. Street children runaway from home due to poverty, neglect and abuse. Human traffickers, and those who abuse children take advantage of this. Those who are not street children either are child brides, work as child labor in the homes of the wealthy with reports of high abuse rates. Some children have fallen into the wrong hands and have been conscripted into child armies. This abuse and manipulation of children must stop. Parents who live in severe poverty see no other option as they too are a product of societies forgotten and are uneducated. I want to change this. Lets give children a future. All children have a right to an education; a safe, nurturing and stable environment. Children mirror what they see, if we want to stop the violence, children need to be taught a better way of life.
