It was on my first trip to Canzibe that through the generosity of several 25:40 supporters, I was privileged to visit a school to help deliver new school uniforms to some of its students. Since my only experience with school uniforms is in the United States, I didn’t fully appreciate why providing these uniforms was such a priority for 25:40’s leadership. However, as soon as I saw what happened when the school principal called each orphan child into a classroom to show them they were receiving a new uniform, including new shoes, I completely understood. You see, every child in school in South Africa wears a uniform. However, orphans may or may not have a uniform, and if they do, it may or may not fit or may even be badly torn or soiled. They get the bottom of the barrel and the stigma that goes with it. On our visit that day we brought more than a dozen school uniforms, including new shoes. I will never forget the look of both total surprise and then complete joy when the children realized these uniforms were for them. Each complete uniform costs $50. Please help us purchase these new school uniforms for the HIV/AID-orphaned children that 25:40 supports in Canzibe this Giving Tuesday to give them a #FightingChance in their education.
Peace to you,
